The Traveler edition by Lisa Williamson Romance eBooks

I really liked this story of a young girl and her beloved horse, Midnight. Edana is a courier- a good one. She and her horse, a steed named Midnight, are the fastest and most honest of the kingdom's couriers. Until one day they are set upon by a gang of highwaymen. She is stabbed in the back by an enchanted, iron blade which is where the plot-line gets very interesting... for she is not really a human girl but a "Fire-Elemental, and her horse turns out to be a Pooka (a half-horse,half-elf hybrid being)!

There is a deep vein of romance... plus, a she-elf scorned, revenge, danger and sacrifice in this marvelous tale!

Positives- Ms. Williamson's world-building is outstanding and a true credit to the fantasy genre. Her dialogue is crisp and her characters actions are quite believable. There is an archaic over-tone to her writing I enjoy very much and I like the fact that this author is stretching her toes into novel writing, as I know her to be a writer of short stories.

Negatives- and this is the hard part, because I did like the story so much. I found quite a few editing issues- not really in grammar, or punctuation but in missing words such as, to-the-for-and... This novel needs another editorial pass through before I can award it five stars.

Still, just for the new and interesting take on the fairy tale genre, I award four stars to what could easily be a five -star story!

The Traveler edition by Lisa Williamson Romance eBooks Reviews

This book has a great world, or worlds. I loved how there were different realms/worlds that one could go into much like the world that CS Lewis had in the Magician's Nephew! As like the "real World" time is normal but once in another world/realm time maybe different. I liked how she played with that to help with some character and story progression later on in the book. I also enjoyed a fresh way to look on how Pookas are made and her version of elves and elementals.

At times I found some -holes in the story. Although, the one to make me stop and feel a little disappointed was when in the elven realm and your "true self" is shown there was at one point a description of a person and then later on in that same realm when they were being described it was written as he was the same as the other two men next to him when he was CLEARLY different in the first part. "All three had blacker then black hair, high cheekbones and square jaws." Just saying, one had a animal head when they were in this world the first time. And unless I missed something that made this make sense, I was sad that a world that was created so nicely was wounded so badly! To me this hurt more then the grammatical or spelling errors that were found in this book.

Over all I think that this is a good book and when I found time to read more times then not I found it hard to put down this book for I absolutely loved the world that Lisa Wiliamson made for her characters if not for the grammatical/spelling errors or story holes I more then likely would have never put it down. (For that I blame bata readers or the lack of; I understand that writers will go over their work a million times and after reading/seeing it so much they become numb to what might be wrong with the story or the writings and will have bata readers to catch that stuff.)

I do hope that she keeps this world and in the future writes more on the other realms in this world she made for she does have a good story and with minor adjustments could be the next CS Lewis.
Edana, along with her horse Midnight, has built a reputation of being a trustworthy and fast courier. After Edana is attacked, however, she discovers that she is more than she thought she was...And so is Midnight. The heart of a prophecy in the Elven Realms, Edana must master her powers to decide the future of people she never knew existed. Complete with Elves, a Pooka, and darkness threaded throughout history, this is an enthralling story that will keep you reading until the end.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. And since I can't turn down an awesome story with a Pooka, I'm so happy that I had a chance to read it!
Enjoy an unusual being, a Pooka, and his equally unusual owner, Edana, in “The Traveler.” The core of the story is a simple one, as old as time – of vengeance and payback - delivered with ingenuity and creativity in a Tolkien-type world. With another round of editorial tweaking, this book could shine even more.

I wanted my own Pooka while reading this! 
Wow, this book has it all and it gipped me from the very first sentence. It is essentially the story of Edana and Midnight/Reece. It is a world of elves, elementals and magik, both light and dark, love, hate and understanding.

The weaving of the worlds and passages of time passed is akin to the great works of Katherine Kerr’s Deverry series.

This is a wondrous story that everyone can enjoy. I love fantasy, but I believe the story is so well told, that even those who do not read this genre would enjoy this adventure.

I have read quite a few of Ms. Williamson’s work and have loved them all. I would have to say that this is her best work to date, and I look forward to more.
When you think of the classics of fantasy, writers like Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, etc. and films like "The Labyrinth" and "The Dark Crystal" you'll get a good idea about what you'll find in this book. The characters are sympathetic, compelling and heroic. They're also mythical beasts; elves and pookas are just the start. The line between good and evil is clearly delineated. You'll find yourself cheering for Edana as she comes of age and learns to harness powers she never dreamed she possesses. The villain is scary and so are her minions. Basically, anything you could want in classic fantasy, you'll find in The Traveler. Well done, Ms. Williamson. Keep it up!
